Preserved Flowers Donated to Palm Gardens of Aventura | STILLA Purpose
A set of arrangements that once stood on the decks of a 55-metre superyacht now sits in the shared rooms of an assisted living community in South Florida. This is the latest action promoted by STILLA Purpose: compositions made for Motor Yacht Ambition, refreshed and donated to Palm Gardens of Aventura.
The Arrangements Began at Sea
Motor Yacht Ambition is a 55-metre yacht and a STILLA client from her time in the Mediterranean. STILLA created her first arrangements in 2024.
Like everything the maison creates, those arrangements were bio-preserved: real flowers treated to retain their colour and shape for more than a year without water or maintenance. That detail matters to what happened next. A cut arrangement reaches the end of its vase life in a week or two. A bio-preserved one does not.
Why the Flowers Had a Second Life
When Ambition's season came to an end, the arrangements were still intact. Rather than discard them, the crew returned them to STILLA.
That return is the idea behind STILLA Purpose, the maison's programme for giving completed arrangements a second home in care settings instead of sending them to waste. Because the flowers were bio-preserved, they remained beautiful and ready to be enjoyed. Fresh flowers after a full yacht season would simply have been compost.
Refreshed, Re-vased, and Donated to Palm Gardens of Aventura
STILLA brought the arrangements back to its Fort Lauderdale atelier, refreshed them, and placed them in STILLA vases. From there, they were donated to Palm Gardens of Aventura, an assisted living community in South Florida.
The pieces were full of colour, something not always found in care settings. Residents spend much of their day indoors, where little changes from one day to the next, so arrangements with vibrant colour naturally draw attention. A Rutgers study of adults over 55 found that having flowers in the room improved both mood and memory, which is one reason care communities welcome them.
A More Sustainable Model for Luxury Flowers
This is what a sustainable approach to luxury flowers looks like in practice rather than in a slogan. One set of arrangements served a full season at sea before beginning a second life in a care community.
Bio-preserved flowers last for more than a year without water or cold storage. That extended lifespan also gives them a significantly smaller carbon footprint than fresh-cut flowers, which are often grown overseas and transported under refrigeration. Their longevity is precisely what made this donation possible: they were designed to last, making them worth preserving and sharing.

Where a STILLA Arrangement Goes Next
STILLA Purpose runs alongside the maison's commission work. The donation to Palm Gardens of Aventura is one example of where a STILLA arrangement can go once its first placement comes to an end.
